Lockheed Martin is getting a proclamation for 75 years in Marietta, which means the commission is opening a meeting that also includes the county formally objecting to losing 10 acres to a neighboring city and buying a building for the police department. Quite a range.
🔦 The 3 items worth your attention
The county is pushing back on an annexation at Ernest Barrett Parkway and Macedonia Road. A petition would pull roughly 10 acres out of county jurisdiction entirely, and the commission is being asked to file a formal Intent to Object under state law. Once land annexes into a city, it takes the tax base and service obligations with it. (Item 21)
A 15,000-square-foot warehouse and office building at 550 Commerce Park Drive in Marietta is up for purchase from Jamerson, LLC, with plans to convert it into a police department multiuse facility. The agenda doesn’t list a price, but this is a straight property acquisition for public safety infrastructure. Worth watching for what comes out in the meeting. (Item 19)
CobbLinc is expanding in two directions at once. The South Cobb microtransit zone gets broader coverage, and a brand-new on-demand pilot launches between Acworth and Kennesaw, both contingent on a Title VI equity analysis the commission will also sign off on. Two separate items, same meeting. (Items 11, 12)
🏗️ Roads & property
- The county may abandon a portion of right-of-way along Old Horseshoe Bend Road and Horseshoe Bend Road in the 19th District. A public hearing is on the agenda, neighbors and adjacent property owners will want to weigh in before any decision is made. (Item 2)
- Drainage repairs are coming to Old Powder Springs Road, with a contract going to Glosson Enterprises. (Item 30)
- A covered bridge on Concord Road is moving to construction, with Advanced Sports Construction up for the contract. (Item 29)
- The Oakdale Road bridge replacement gets a design contract amendment with Pond and Company, folding in complete streets upgrades. (Item 31)
- An unused sewer easement in Land Lot 315 of the 20th District is being returned to the underlying property owners by quitclaim deed. No infrastructure ever went in, so the county is clearing the title. (Item 5)
💰 Where the money’s going
- $450,000.00, County contribution for playground equipment at Riverlands Gateway Park, through an amendment to the development agreement with Trust for Public Land. (Item 16)
- Glosson Enterprises holds two separate resurfacing and ADA ramp upgrade contracts up for the 2027 program (Contract 1, Project B2936; Contract 2, Project B2937). Dollar amounts not listed in the agenda. (Items 27, 28)
- C.W. Matthews Contracting is up for the Taxiway Alpha pavement rehabilitation at McCollum Field. Amount not listed. (Item 10)

- Dogwood Public Affairs gets a state legislative consulting contract. Terms not disclosed in the agenda. (Item 24)
- CASA Program at Juvenile Court is up for a grant from Georgia CASA, Inc. Amount not specified. (Item 3)
📌 Also notable
- Kennesaw State University gets a three-year license to use the CobbLinc Busbee Park and Ride lot, with two one-year renewal options. (Item 13)
- Salary savings from Sustainability, Waste, and Beautification are being redirected to fund litter removal under the Keep Cobb Beautiful Adopt-A-Mile Program. (Item 15)
