CobbLinc shows up six separate times on Tuesday’s agenda. Bus operations, two microtransit pilots, a new operator contract, an amendment, a planning document, transit is basically the whole discussion section.
The 3 items worth your attention
Countywide generative AI platform. The county is looking to stand up a single AI platform, called GovAI, across all departments, purchased through Insight Public Sector, Inc. under a cooperative contract with OMNIA Partners. Part of the funding comes from 2022 SPLOST. This one touches every department, so it’s worth watching how the commission frames the scope. (Item 29)
The Johnson Ferry/Shallowford intersection gets two separate votes Tuesday, which is unusual. First the county would sign a state-county agreement with GDOT to advance the project (Item 26), then separately green-light a design-build contract with CMES, Inc. to actually do the work (Item 27). Both land in the same meeting, so commissioners have to act on the framework and the builder at once.
Pay adjustments for two senior Sheriff’s Office positions, Chief Deputy Sheriff and Assistant Chief Deputy Sheriff, come up under Item 20, with changes retroactive to April 10, 2026. State law (House Bill 1588) is what allows the adjustments, but the commission still has to sign off, and the retroactive effective date means the county has technically been running ahead of formal sign-off for five months.
