The county jail’s prescription drug tab is coming due: $450K out of contingencies, just to cover medications and vaccines for inmates through the rest of the year.

The 3 items worth your attention

The jail medication transfer is the single biggest line item on today’s agenda. The Sheriff’s department wants to move $450K from contingencies into the drugs and vaccine supplies account to cover prescriptions and vaccines for the county jail population. That’s a significant mid-year draw, and it comes as a standalone item, not bundled into the broader budget transfer package. (6-A)

Three separate HUD Continuum of Care grants land on the same agenda, each one tied to the county’s homelessness infrastructure. The planning grant alone is $328K, with a second grant of $212K covering operation of the homeless management information system, and a third for coordinated entry services. The committee doesn’t decide whether to pursue them; it’s deciding whether to accept and appropriate funds that HUD has already offered. (8-A, 8-B, 8-C)

The Geneva Road flashing yellow signal project is still at the proposal stage, but the number attached to it is worth knowing: the county is seeking $2.3M from the U.S. DOT Federal Highway Administration under the Local Highway Safety Improvement Program to install flashing yellow signals at intersections along Geneva Road. The committee gets notified today; no action is scheduled. (9-B-1)

Roads & property

The Regional Office of Education wants to buy property, and the agenda doesn’t say where or for how much. The committee will discuss it Tuesday, but price and location are unspecified in the public packet. (10-A)

HR Green, Inc. is up for a contract to do Phase I preliminary engineering for a multi-use trail along Stearns Road, from the DuPage/Kane County line to Sayer Road, at just under $366K through October 2028. That’s the design phase only; construction is a separate conversation. (7-E-1)

A stormwater basin retrofit at Chatburg Park in Roselle is on the consent agenda, tied to an intergovernmental agreement with the Roselle Park District. The county’s share runs up to $20K, covered by a FY2026 Water Quality Improvement Grant. (7-D-2)

The Warehouse Direct hand soap and personal care contract for the DuPage Care Center is getting a one-time price increase tacked on to an existing deal alongside a fresh two-year contract with the same vendor. (7-B-1, 7-B-2)

A package of miscellaneous budget transfers across various county accounts rounds out the meeting with no dollar total specified in the agenda. (6-F)

Five paylists from late August and early September are on the docket to be received and filed. (9-A-1 through 9-A-5)
