Boardof Commissioners Work Session · 2026-09-08

Change order 39 on the SR 369/SR 400 interchange project is on the agenda Tuesday. Thirty-nine.

The 3 items worth your attention

The Sheriff’s Office wants to apply for a nearly $935K DOJ grant to buy a mobile command and communications vehicle, and the county wouldn’t have to put up a single dollar of local match (V-2). These vehicles run law enforcement operations at large-scale incidents, and the application has to go through the board before anything else can happen.

A $1.4M federal CMAQ grant application for a roundabout at SR 9 and Hopewell Road is up for discussion, and this one does come with strings: the county would be on the hook for a $280K local match if the grant comes through (V-12). The item is flagged time-sensitive, so the board’s direction Tuesday shapes whether the application goes in at all.

The 2027 employee health plan is getting a full review. The board will look at High Deductible Health Plan options and how much the county contributes to Health Savings Accounts, and whatever they decide will affect every county employee’s out-of-pocket costs starting next year (V-1). Tuesday’s discussion isn’t a final decision; it’s a direction to Employment Services to move forward with the broker on whichever design the board prefers.
