DEI Advisory Board · September 1, 2026
The whole agenda fits on one page, and most of it is standing committee updates. The one item with any real teeth is a Letter of Support that didn’t get resolved last month.
There’s no money moving, no contracts, no zoning. This is a working session for an advisory board doing its regular check-ins.
🔦 The items worth your attention
The agenda doesn’t have three high-impact items this time, so here are the two that actually carry substance.
The board has unfinished business around a Letter of Support carried over from August (Item IX). The agenda doesn’t spell out what the letter supports, which is frustrating, but a vote on it is possible Tuesday. If that topic matters to you, this is the meeting to show up to.
Public comment is open to everyone, up to three minutes per speaker, with no stated subject restriction (Item V). For a board like this one, that open floor is often where the most useful things get said.
📌 Also notable
Two staff updates are on the docket. Interim Director Delvata Moses gives an operational update (Item VI), and Culture and Accountability Officer Michael Hopson delivers a separate report (Item VII). Neither comes with agenda detail beyond the title.
Three standing committees each give their regular updates: Justice and Safety, Economic Empowerment, and Community Sustainability (Items VIII-a through VIII-c).
The board also hears announcements for two upcoming events: the 3rd Annual Dance by the River Pow Wow at Adado Riverfront Park on September 26-27, and the Hispanic Month Kickoff Celebration at City Hall on September 15 (Item XI). Both are free community events open to Lansing residents.
New business is on the agenda as a placeholder (Item X), but nothing specific is listed.
How to participate: The meeting is at City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Avenue, Lansing. Public comment (Item V) is your window to address the board directly. Arrive early if you want to speak.
