KC Labor Management Committee, August 25, 2026

This one’s short. The whole agenda is essentially two closed-door conversations and the bookkeeping around them.

The committee is meeting to discuss Court Security Sergeants in executive session (Item 6-A) and then Corrections staff collective bargaining in another (Item 6-B). Both are legally exempt from open-meeting requirements, so the public gets to watch the door close and reopen. That’s not unusual for a Labor Management Committee. It’s literally what the committee exists to do.

🔦 The 3 items worth your attention

There aren’t three substantive items on this agenda. There are two, and they’re both closed sessions.

Court Security Sergeants (6-A): The committee goes into executive session to discuss matters involving Court Security Sergeants. Could be a contract, could be a classification question, could be something else entirely. The exemption is real and routine; what happens inside isn’t public until the committee decides to make it so.

Corrections collective bargaining (6-B): A separate closed session covers labor contract talks with Corrections staff. These negotiations can run for months, and a single committee meeting is rarely the whole story. Worth knowing they’re in active discussion.
