Three different drain assessment types are on the agenda this week, all headed to the full Board, which means if you’re a property owner in a drain district, your FY2027 bill is getting set right now.
The 3 items worth your attention
Oakland County’s Water Resources Commissioner is bringing FY2027 drain maintenance assessments in three separate batches: Chapter 4 drains, Chapter 18 drains, and lake level maintenance. These aren’t the same thing. Chapter 4 covers county-administered drains, Chapter 18 covers a different statutory category, and the lake level assessments hit lakefront and nearby parcels specifically. If you own property inside one of these districts, the charges coming out of this meeting fund next year’s maintenance work. (Items 10-a, 10-b, 10-c)
The county’s Access to Transit program shows up twice, once for 2026 and once for 2027. The 2026 item (12-a) is about bus stop improvement projects moving forward now. The 2027 item (12-b) sets the program’s framework and funding structure for the year after that. Two resolutions, two different years, same meeting, commissioners will be looking at both in sequence.
A grant termination is on the table for the Village of Ortonville. (Item 11-b) The county and Ortonville had a Placemaking and Public Spaces Grant agreement; this item formally ends it. No dollar figure is listed in the agenda materials, so the size of the original grant isn’t clear from what’s public, but the agreement is being wound down either way.
Roads & property
- The Tri-Party Road Improvement Program has two funding agreements up for action: one with Charter Township of Waterford (Project 58661) and one with the City of Novi (Project 57891). Both are consent items, meaning they’re expected to move without much debate. (Items 9-a, 9-b)
Where the money’s going
No dollar amounts are listed in the agenda materials for any contract or grant item this cycle.
